    Tue 30 Jan 2024

    Dear Parent or Carer

We have arranged to take our 2024 Y6 Group on a residential activity course to Manor Adventure at Willersley Castle, Matlock, Derbyshire from 23rd – 25th October 2024.

The residential will take place from Wednesday 23rd October to Friday 25th October.2024 and will cost £195. This includes a non-refundable deposit of £50, which is due by 18th March 2024. The total figure of £195 will include all meals, accommodation, activities, achievements certificates and insurance.

The deposit must be paid, on Parent Pay, by no later than March 18th 2024 – We are due to pay the deposit to Willersley Castle by March 19th, and without the deposit being paid, we cannot pay Willersley Castle.

The 5 instalments have been set up so we can give you as much time as possible to be able to pay for the residential. The final bill is payable by July 17th 2024, so we need to have collected the full amount by no later than July 15th 2024. Please see the instalment plan below.

The school does not add any extra charges to the cost of the residential. The costs we pass on to parents are the costs from the venue and Insurance provider directly.

Places – There are 60 places available, which means first come first served, Willersley Castle, cannot offer any additional places.

Transport, transport to and from the residential will be provided by parents – we put a vote out to parents, asking if they would prefer to pay less, but, take children to and from the residential, the vote was largely for this. Children will need to come to school, in the morning, then parents will need to collect children by 1.45pm to take them to Willersley Castle. We recommend car sharing, where possible, to help with the number of cars going up, we will also most likely offer a staggered arrival time, which we will detail, closer to the event, children will need to be collected on the Friday, between 1.30-2pm again, we will clarify the time, closer to the event.  – We have put this out today, to give parents as much time in advance to organise this with employers/family etc.

Insurance: - The insurance we have taken with Manor Adventure covers your child if they cannot attend the residential due to illness or injury. For example, if your child has a sickness bug, or breaks a limb a few days before the residential, and they cannot attend you will get a refund.

If your child falls ill whilst on the residential and needs to come home early, you WILL NOT be covered and will not receive a refund.

Manor Adventure have fully trained and qualified instructors, and with the support of school staff, will provide instruction in a full programme of activities in a safe, controlled and secure environment.

Activities which are likely to be included are - Rifle Range, Climbing Wall, Axe throwing, Obstacle Course, Abseiling, Archery Range, Blind Trail, Kayaking and Zip Wire.

This is an exciting opportunity, full of exhilarating activities to keep the children entertained during this residential.

This trip will enable the children to develop their sense of worth, their confidence, responsibility and self-discipline.  It also enables them to begin to further develop their social skills.

Because of the nature of the residential trip and the need for all the children to shoulder responsibility for their own behaviour, we reserve the right to refuse a place to any child that gives us cause for concern regarding their own and others’ health, safety and well-being.

We will communicate with you nearer the time to go over kit lists and what the children will be doing in more detail.

Details of all installments are available to see on Parent Pay, we will contact you nearer the time to discuss further details. If you have any pressing questions, please call the school office.

For further information about the trip, the activities, the centre etc. please check the website: www.manoradventure.com and you will be able to see for yourself how worthwhile and enjoyable these visits are.

    Yours sincerely, Year 6 Team
