Young Voices

Young Voices is an exciting opportunity that is available to our upper school classes. Schools around England are given a large repertoire of songs to learn, which are learnt during choir rehearsals at school. Children are expected to learn the lyrics and practise at home. Then, in January, all the choirs come together (up to 8,000 children) in arenas around the country to perform to an audience of family and friends. At RJS, we travel to Sheffield FlyDSA Arena, this year on January 10th. Below are the songs we are learning for this year’s concert:

  • Best of the West (medley of songs from Oklahoma, Annie Get Your Gun and Calamity Jane)
  • Disney duo (You’ll Be In My Heart and I’m On My Way)
  • Ode to Joy
  • Kusimama (A Swahili song meaning ‘I stand tall’)
  • Frightfest (medley of songs from films including Ghostbusters and Little Shop of Horrors)
  • Larger than Life
  • Shiny Happy People
  • Queen Medley
  • I Couldn’t Do This Without You
  • A Thousand Hallelujahs
  • Somebody to Love
  • Pop Medley (including All I Am, Shotgun, Play and Shut Up and Dance)
