Young Voices

Young Voices

Young Voices is an exciting opportunity that we are sometimes able to participate in. We do not participate every year so keep your eyes and ears open for more information! Schools around England are given a large repertoire of songs to learn, which are learnt during choir rehearsals at school. Children are expected to learn the lyrics and practise at home. Then, all the choirs come together (up to 8,000 children) in arenas around the country to perform to an audience of family and friends. At RJS, we travel to Sheffield FlyDSA Arena to perform. Below are the some of the examples of the songs we have learnt in previous years:

- Lion King Medley

- Beatles Medley

- Muppets Medley

- Oh Fortuna

- Mambo Italiana

- Power in Me

- Living Years

- Pop Medley

- Sing from your heart

What does it sound/look like?

Have a look at this video clip.

We all stay in our seats for the whole concert. We all stay as one group in our school. It’s all about the whole sound
of everyone together. This means if you forget the words or dance moves for one little bit, no one will notice!

They often have solo singers singing some bits of the songs. A soloist starts this song in the clip. At 1.24 the choir joins in.
All those children in white t-shirts are the choir!
